"Dear Nokia.

I'm confused. And i'm afraid more people are. I have the impression you present phones with different OS's. But in my brain is the idea that about most of the OS's (Meego, Symbian) i have read they will stop being developed in the near future (many stories, for example http://www.tgdaily.com/software-features/56358-does-meego-have-a-future, http://www.forbes.com/sites/parmyolson/2011/06/21/why-did-nokia-launch-the-n9-meego-phone/ and http://www.phonearena.com/news/Nokia-is-halting-all-future-Symbian---feature-phone-efforts-in-the-US-moving-to-WP7_id21053). Nokia has sold their sole to Microsoft. Windows Mobile (in whatever version) is the future OS of Nokia. I have seen product announcements of great looking phones in the last days, have read raving reactions to some latest Nokia-phones. But my gutt says they all are on OS's that are end-of-life... So currently i would never consider a Nokia phone (and it doesn't help i have respectable Nokia-colleagues that used to be Nokia-only, but had a crappy experience with some of the earlier Nokia-smartphones)...

I'm sending this as helpful feedback. If more people have this idea in their head, it will be very hard to sell new phones. You might want to consider to clarify the OS roadmaps. And just saying that for as long as you see, a certain OS will be developed (like http://conversations.nokia.com/2011/02/16/the-future-for-qt-meego-and-symbian-cto-rich-green-explains/ ) , will not help: history has shown too many companies lying about that stuff and leaving customers in the cold anyway. I think it needs signed guarantees...

Neither will statements that MeeGo and Symbian will be open-sourced. History has proven that is like saying: we're dumping it, anybody who wants to have fun with it: go along. But in most cases, everybody knows it will not see any development. Just a patch for current users on the platform that hope to see some developers path here and there.

I hope this helps. Kindest regards,

Raoul.
