Flipboard for the iPad is liked by many; with an iPad. So probably lots of people without an iPad would like it to. A colleague of mine asked me to search for browser based websites and solutions that give a Flipboard-like experience.
So i searched and found the following solutions that somehow look like what Flipboard serves (but i didn't yet find a solution that really comes close to what you see in the video):
- a description of Treesaver, and the Treesaver homepage
- Feed.ly (at the time of writing available for iDevices, but also as a Chrome plugin)
- Surfboard
- Google Fast Flip
- PostPost (Dutch article, English here)
- Onswipe
- PicSick / Postano
- Flipboard apparently is thinking about a browser- / web-based version
- Yahoo Livestand
- Paper.li
- Pressjack
Alternative.to , a great source for when you're looking for an alternative to whatever app / piece of software, has a page on alternatives to Flipboard. And this article about alternatives for Flipboard also mentions Layers for Google Chrome.

(Dutch): Flipboard is een coole iPad app. Het toont content die je anders via andere manieren bekijkt, op een magazine-achtige manier. Nu vind ik het zelf niet meer dan eye-candy: het ziet er gelikt uit, maar als je vooral uit bent op snel veel informatie verwerken, dan is Flipboard een vertragende factor. Maar, voor mensen die Flipboard mooi vinden, maar geen iPad hebben, staat hierboven een rijtje met oplossingen die proberen na te doen wat Flipboard doet. Geen van allen doet al wat Flipboard doet, maar 'er wordt aan gewerkt'.
