We traded in our 2020 model 3 for a 2022 model Y. For people curious about the differences between a 2020 model 3 and a 2022 model Y, the model Y has:
- more storage space (great for moving big stuff)
- a higher seat/view
- steering-wheel-warming
- build-in wireless charging for phones in the front (with nice fabric-y material)
- an external speaker, so you can remotely speak to people around your car when you receive an alarm on your app, you can change the sound or your horn etc
- better insulation for sound (double pan windows)
- a heat pump so the car uses less energy in the winter for heating
- the trunk has power-lift (it opens by itself when you click open) and auto-close (after pressing a button)
- the roof glass is one piece
- foldable storage cover in the back
- usb-c plugs
- towbar prepared (on the 2020 model 3 you could not have a towbar installed after delivery)
- interior dashboard runs smoothly into door cover
- clear indication (icon/sticker) of the button to open the door
- removable car mat set (the 2020 model 3 came only with the stuck-on-fabric which you could not replace, so you needed to buy whatever set you liked)
- no ultra sonic sensors (opinions vary on whether that is a loss); the car uses camera's/vision instead
- bioweapon defense mode
- heated back seats (next to the standard heated front seats)
For great locksound files and light shows
- for lightshows: create a folder LightShow (afaik, this can't be on the Tesla supplied USB where also the TeslaCam files are stored on; you seem to need a seperate USB drive) in the root of the USB drive, and place the files (no sub folders!) in this folder (the sequence file and mp3/wav need to have the same (song) name to show up in the drop down on your Tesla
- for lockchime: afaik, you can only have 1 custom LockChime for now: you can put that on the Tesla supplied USB drive, in the root, and name it LockChime.wav. Maybe in the future you can create a folder LockChime and have multiple LockChimes to choose from, like as with the LightShow files.
Some light shows and lockchimes can be found at: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1CnwE3ELPQlLbhsywhvBY51QSjkE-APcq?usp=sharing .
